Downsizing as a zen experience…
New digs
My client was going through a divorce and went from living in a 6 bedroom 5 bathroom 2 story home to a 1 story house less than half it’s size. This meant a lot of soul searching and doing the whole Spark Joy routine to decorate her new digs. The patio area was going to be a sanctuary and how that would be achieved would be an enjoyable experience for both myself and my client.

One way to change the look and feel of your space is to rethink the color scheme by changing out the chaise and chair pads and pillows to reflect a refreshing new color palette.

Lighting, furniture and fabrics call all be used creatively to give a totally different vibe to your outdoor space.

The parkway strip in the front of the house had a massive Amber tree with undulating roots snaking throughout the strip. A little soil and some drought tolerant plants gave this once barren area an animation of flowering surprises.

Cordyline is a favorite plant of mine as its colors never disappoint!

Leucadendron with those red hot tips near the cordyline with a little senecia is like a painting.

Up close we see the leucadendron with a cordyline "kiwi" and some stones and gravel to give it some movement.
